#3 Two White-Faced Capuchins

a. Lucky, Male
b. Lola, Female

White-faced capuchins, also known as Cebus capucinus, are a species of New World monkeys found in Central and South America. They are known for their distinctive white face and body, which contrasts with their dark brown fur on the rest of their body. These intelligent and social monkeys live in large groups, known as troops, which can consist of up to 20 individuals. White-faced capuchins are highly adaptable and can be found in various habitats, including tropical rainforests, dry forests, and mangroves. They have a diverse diet that includes fruits, nuts, insects, small mammals, and even bird eggs. These monkeys are known for their tool usage, using sticks and stones to crack open nuts or gather food from hard-to-reach places.

#4 Miniature Pigs

Honduran domestic pigs, also known as Honduran miniature pigs, are a small breed of pigs that originate from Honduras. They are popular as pets due to their small size and friendly nature. These pigs typically weigh between 40 to 70 pounds and stand at a height of about 16 to 24 inches. They have a compact and muscular body with short legs, a rounded snout, and floppy ears. Honduran miniature pigs are known for their intelligence and can be easily trained, making them suitable for various activities such as agility training or obedience training. Despite their small size, they have a good appetite and require a balanced diet to maintain their health.

#5 Indian Peafowl

The Indian peafowl, scientifically known as Pavo cristatus, is a large and colorful bird native to South Asia, particularly India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. It is famous for its vibrant and iridescent plumage, which includes a long and elaborate train of feathers that can reach up to 5 feet in length. The males, called peacocks, have a stunning display of bright blue and green feathers with intricate markings, while the females, called peahens, have a more subdued brown coloration. The peacock's train is used during courtship displays to attract peahens, where he fans out his feathers and performs a dance, shaking them to create a mesmerizing display.

On the island, we have an extremely rare all-white peafowl. This is a genetic mutation that prevents the color pigments from being deposited into the feathers. It is a rare form of albinism and is almost never seen in the natural world. We feel fortunate to have such a rare creature on the island and look forward to you experiencing her beauty in-person.

Please Note –

*All animals are open to visitation except the Bengal Tigers due to construction in the area surrounding their enclosure. At Little French Key Resort, we are dedicated to providing the best quality of life possible to all our animal residents, for this reason, we have decided to adopt a "cage-free" system. All animals that do not pose a health and safety risk to themselves or the public living cage-free on our island are currently doing so. As a result, we have monkeys, peacocks, ducks, pigeons, chickens, and pigs that roam our island freely, which they call home. On a similar note, we are currently in the process of determining whether there may exist sanctuaries within Central America that are willing to accept some of our resident big cats that would provide them with habitats more similar to that which they experience in the wild. All of our big cats have been rescued from circuses or zoos suffering from overcrowding and underfunding, and as a result, have been rehabilitated at LFKR and are provided the best quality of life possible, with consistent diets, veterinary care, and enrichment. However, we are limited in space as a result of being located on a small island, located off the coast of another small island. Thus, we are considering rehoming several of our big cats to sanctuaries where their enclosures would be significantly larger than our entire establishment as a whole.
